Sunday Oliseh Sacked By Fortuna Sittard

Sunday Oliseh has been sacked as head coach of Fortuna Sittard. The club made this known in a statement on their official website today.

The club claimed he didn’t get along with management and had strained relations with players and staff. The statement on their website reads;

“The club management makes this decision as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a longer period by the trainer towards several persons in the organization.”

“Several attempts by the club to change his behavior remained unfortunately without result, resulting in an unworkable situation as a result.”


“’The board of Fortuna Sittard emphasizes that the decision to sack Sunday Oliseh is not motivated by current results.”

“The coach has a bad working relationship with players and staff.”

“Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but the interest of the club is above anything else”

'He's incredible, and works very hard'- Chelsea coach Antonio Conte heaps praise on Victor Moses

New manager of Chelsea Antonio Conte has heaped praise on Nigerian winger Victor Moses saying the Super Eagles player understands his type of football.
Moses, has had a re-awakening of his Chelsea career this season, featuring in most of the games and played well in a wing back role in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Hull. Conte praised the lad saying:

 ''It was a great performance from Victor Moses. Your name isn't important but you have to play my idea of football' Conte said to journalists.
 'For me, Moses played an incredible  game in a defensive situation and offensive situation It's fantastic!' 
'He's working very hard and that's why he deserved to play. He showed me that my choice was right If Moses and Pedro can play in this way, it's fantastic. To have wingers able to do this role (wing-back) is a great option.''

John Mikel Obi denies being injured ahead of Word Cup qualifier against Zambia

Chelsea and Super Eagles of Nigeria player John Mikel Obi has denied rumours making the rounds that he is injured, insisting he's fully fit and ready to help the Super Eagles start their World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign on a good start.
The crunch clash will take place at the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium against the Chipolopolo of Zambia and Nigeria will be hoping to start the qualifying campaign with a win.
“I don’t know where the story about my being injured came from. I have no injury. Mikel told the team’s Administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor according to www.theNFF.com 
''All the other players and myself are fit and ready and we are determined to start the World Cup race on a winning note,” 
Nigeria will face Zambia on Sunday, 9th October 2016.

Italian footballer ditches the game for a music career despite lucrative offer

Maverick 30-year-old Italian footballer, Dani Osvaldo has quit football for a career in music. This is despite the fact he was offered a huge deadline day contract of £2.1million a year by Italian side, Chievo Verona. His career will be best remembered for a series of controversial incidents.

His last club was Boca Juniors, but Osvaldo was sacked by the club after manager Guillermo Barros caught him smoking in the changing rooms during a Copa Libertadores quarter-final. He made just six appearances at the club after signing on from FC Porto in 2015. In 2011, he punched Roma team-mate Erik Lamela in the face after he didn't pass to him during a defeat at Udinese.
And in 2013, he called caretaker manager Aurelio Andreazzoli 'incompetent' after he was only brought off the bench for 15 minutes during Roma's Coppa Italia final defeat to rivals Lazio. Osvaldo moved to Southampton but controversy followed. In January 2014, he was fined £40,000 and banned for three matches for violent conduct during a touchline bust-up in a match with Newcastle. Three weeks later, he head-butted team-mate Jose Fonte during a training ground fracas, leading to the club handing him a two-week suspension.

Shocking: Another Nigerian Football Legend Dies After The Death Of Keshi And Amodu

Just days after the deaths of former Super Eagles coaches Stephen Keshi and Shuaibu Amodu, a former secretary of Ogun State Football Association, Mr Leo Oyenekan died.

The news of his death was contained in a statement, Monday, in Abeokuta by Wole Otayemi, the FA media officer.
Oyenekan, who was the immediate past secretary of the association, died on Monday at the age of 57 years, after a brief illness, the statement said.

“The entire members of football family in Ogun are finding it difficult to believe the death of Oyenekan”, the statement reads.
The chairman of the state football association, Alhaji Ganiu Majekodunmi described the deceased as “a diligent, hardworking and committed officer, who spent over 15 years with the association. Oyenekan’s death has left a huge vacuum behind which may be difficult to fill”
The executive committee of the association would hold a special session in honour of the late secretary in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

AMARA KANU REVEALS: "WHY I MARRIED KANU NWANKWO AT THE AGE OF I8"




Legend Super Eagles’ Nwankwo Kanu’s wife, Amara talks about marriage, motherhood and her other interests in a new interview with Punch Spice, read below....


You got married to one of Nigeria’s star players at 18. How were you able to keep the family and home together at the time? Marriage is a growth process and I learn on a daily basis. I got married as a teenager. I was young. I think I jumped into the deep end and I simply went with it. It takes a lot of determination to keep things going because irrespective of your age, marriage throws a lot of curves at you. The main thing is being able to bounce back after being hit with a surprise or what you do not expect. Did you harbour any doubts about your marriage? I wasn’t scared; I felt it like it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I was in love, so there was no time for a negative feeling like fear to come up. I think the love I had and still have for my husband was all I needed to feel comfortable and good. How did you adjust to being married to a popular personality?
When I was getting married, I was not ready to be thrust into the limelight. I didn’t even know what I was getting into. I wasn’t a football fan and I knew nothing about the Premiership. I didn’t know I was getting married into that level of limelight as I was young, vibrant and in love. I am now a football fan. Have you lost your privacy? If you notice, this interview is one of the very few I have granted in recent times. I try to keep my sanity, so that I can protect my family. I had to make a personal decision to stay private for a very long time in order to build what I have built for myself and my children. I understood this from a very young age. Would you want your daughter to emulate by getting married at a young age? 

Having gone through it myself, I wouldn’t say I would like her to do the same. I would like her to experience life slightly a bit more than I did. But it all depends on the circumstances and the persons involved. I had support from my mum, dad and siblings. In hindsight, I can say that they actually did a good job. In June, we would celebrate the 12th anniversary of our wedding.

How did you handle criticism at that time?
I ignored critics and paid no attention to what people said. I overlooked Facebook and I only signed on to the platform in July 2011. That was shortly after I earned a degree in Architecture.
If you could do anything differently in terms of marriage and certain decisions you have made over the years, what would it be? I don’t think I would want to do it differently. I think getting married early is my competitive advantage.I learnt real life and management skills in marriage. Even though I’m currently studying for an MBA, it can’t beat the real life experiences. I won’t change anything because it all worked for me.While he still played active football, how did you deal with the risks associated with his job? When I began to understand what it meant to lose a game, I had to learn to cheer him up. I also had to learn really fast that every game had a consequence, a price and a goal at the end of the day.
How would you describe motherhood? Motherhood is the best thing that has ever happened to me. In terms of motherhood, women empowerment and business sense, Beyonce inspires me. My children will always be my priority and I give God the most gratitude for blessing me with children. If I invest my time in them, they will give me more value at the end of the day.
How would you describe your husband?
He is a kind man and he has a big heart. He is also very sensitive and intelligent. He shows me compassion through his actions and he doesn’t say too much.

Amodu Shaibu Knew He Was Going to Die…See What He Told His Son After Keshi’s Death

Revelations from family members have it that the former Super Eagles coach was heavily disturbed about his finances and had a premonition over his death following his secret message to his son.

Tragedy struck at the home of ex-Super Eagles coach and Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation, Amodu Shuaibu as he passed on in his sleep in Benin City, Edo State.
His death came just days after another ex-national team coach and close friend of Amodu, Stephen Keshi, died in the same city. Amodu’s corpse was buried on Saturday in his hometown Okpella in Etsako East based on Muslim rites.
His eldest son, Abdul-Aziz has revealed that Amodu gave a hint of his death while they were talking.
Abdul-Aziz, a 26-year-old graduate from Igbinedion University, said, “I am getting set for the National Youth Service Corps programme this month. So, I called him (Amodu) yesterday (Friday) to discuss with him but he didn’t pick my call. He called back and told me that he was very busy. He promised to come to Okpella today (Saturday), so that we could see.
“He briefly said something about death when I asked about (Stephen) Keshi. He said Keshi was not buried immediately because he was not a Muslim. He told me that if he died he should be buried immediately. Then today, I got the news that he was dead.”


Abdul-Aziz said he was shocked when he received the news of his father’s death.

“We were not even told that he was taken to a hospital. He doesn’t fast naturally. For the past few years, he stopped fasting due to his health condition. I don’t know what happened this year that he decided to fast. When I asked him about fasting, he said he just felt like he could do it,” Abdul-Aziz added.
Speaking with Punch, Amodu’s cousin, Akuri Afegbua, said the former Eagles coach died after complaints of chest pain and his inability to get the money NFF owed him, adding that his poor financial status had made it difficult for him to take care of himself and his immediate family.
“I think he died of frustration due to his financial status. He was not paid (by the NFF). He was complaining of not being paid and had no money to maintain himself and his immediate family. I think the purpose of his being in Benin was to put in a bill for his payment, (from) both the NFF and the state government,” the cousin said.
“We were together on Friday. In the afternoon, he called to say that he was feeling some pains on the left side of his chest and he called in a doctor. The doctor checked his blood pressure; he had 140 over 100. The doctor told him it was not bad, that he could continue with his fasting,” Afegbua said.
The ex-Eagles coach was full of life on Friday when he assisted one of his uncles to secure a bail at a police station. He added that it was shocking when they found Amodu dead at about 4am on Saturday.
“Apart from his complaint of chest pains, he was perfectly okay. We came back on Saturday morning to wake him up but found him dead,” Afegbua added.

BREAKING NEWS: Another Ex-Coach Of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Amodu Shuaibu Is Dead

Former Nigeria head coach, Shuaibu Amodu, has passed away at the age of 58.
The four – time Coach of the Super Eagles complained of chest pains on Friday night and died in his sleep.
His death is coming few days after the death of another former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amodu died on Saturday after “he could not wake up” from his sleep.
The former BCC Lions coach, it was learned complained of chest pains, before he went to bed on Friday night.
“That is correct,” NFF secretary general, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed the passing away of Amodu. “He sleep and he could not wake up.”
Nigeria is still mourning the death of another former coach and legend, Stephen Keshi, who passed away on Wednesday in Benin City.
Amodu and Keshi worked together as Nigeria’s head coach and assistant coach respectively at the 2002 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Mali.

Stephen Keshi died with a broken heart, family sources have told TheCable that “since the death of his wife, Kate, in December 2015, his life had changed dramatically,” a family member said on Wednesday morning hours after the football icon passed on.
He said Keshi, 54, had become hypertensive “but was managing it very well… always taking his medications and checking his blood pressure very regularly”.
Another family member told TheCable that since the former Super Eagles’ coach lost his wife, he had become so lonely that he was practically soliciting phone calls from friends.
“After the burial of his wife, people practically left him to himself. The calls and visits became fewer, and he felt the pain the more. They were married for 35 years and he watched the love of his life battle bravely with cancer for three years. He was inconsolable,” he said.
TheCable understands that Keshi, who was due to travel to the US later in the day, started complaining of excruciating pains in his legs a few minutes to midnight.
He was rushed to the hospital when the pains would not subside, but TheCable couldn’t confirm if he died on the way or on arrival.

In a statement issued by his family, the preliminary cause of death was given as “cardiac arrest”.
Respected sports journalist, Kayode Tijani, who was very close to Keshi, told TheCable that he spoke with the former international last weekend.
“He asked about me from a mutual friend, so I immediately called him. He was so appreciative. You would think I gave him something he did not have. He kept thanking me profusely for calling him,” Tijani said.
When his wife died, Keshi had said: “She was ill for a while now and I’m still in shock of this great loss.
“She is more like a sister to me and was the rock behind me and everything I do. My love for her was at first sight.”
They had four children.
